July 11-15 Colorado Springs/Woodland Park area to help with fire recovery needs and home repairs/maintenance for senior citizens. Cost $150; $50 deposit due with application, payments of $50 due March 1 and June 1. We will be fundraising entirely for the mission trip; I do not expect youth or families to pay for this trip out of pocket.

We currently have $800 dollars raised towards our mission trip. So far, we have fundraised for about 6 youth paid in full.

We will have our last mission trip meeting sometime in May (tentatively May 31st @ St. Andrews) to go over any important information/details regarding this trip.

Guatemala Trip

University Park UMC participates in medical mission with our partner Salud y Paz (www.saludypas.org).  Besides medical professionals, we welcome any non-medical professionals who have a heart for mission and serving others.  In addition to the work we do while we’re there, we leave supplies the organization needs.  A collection container is in our church foyer to accept the following items:

  • Stickers (especially smiles)
  • Travel soaps/shampoos/lotion
  • Christian-theme coloring books
  • Reading glasses (dollar store are fine!)
  • Brown paper lunch bags
  • Inflatable beach balls
  • Sidewalk chalk/bubbles

We’ve been doing this for years, but we always encourage new missioners to join us.  The trip is open to high schoolers (with a parent or guardian) through adults.

Sierra Leone Work Trip

Periodically, we travel to Sierra Leone to serve, and members of our congregation founded the Sierra Leone project. Our projects there have centered in the Capitol city of Kabala and included Kabala School for the Blind, Kabala UMC Church and Primary School, and Nar Sarah Clinic and MaMa Land Children’s Village.

Youth Mission Trips

Each summer, our high schoolers and middle schoolers travel on service projects. It’s a time of bonding for the group, and helping them discover the joy of serving others.
